The television show “Family Guy” is animation created in 1998 by Seth MacFarlane, who was working with Fox Broadcasting Company. It is a comical animated sitcom that is based around a dysfunctional family – The Griffins. The Griffin family consists of two parents Lois and peter, the children Chris, Meg, and baby Stewie, and the talking dog Brian. The tv show is based in the made up town called Quahog in Rhode Island. For those of you that have not heard of Family Guy before, it is written much in the same styles as The Simpsons, American Dad, and Futurama. If you haven’t seen any of those TV shows, you definitely need to check them out!
Family guy has won several awards, these include 11 Annie Awards, 12 Primtime Emmy Awards, and is the first animated series to be offered the Emmy Award for “Outstanding Comedy Series” since The Flintstones in 1961.
Seth MacFarlane, initially came up with the idea for Family Guy when he was studying animation at the Rhode Island School of Design, hence why the show is based in Rhode Island. He submitted 2 films as his thesis during his time at Rhode Island School of Design called “The Life of Larry” and later the sequal “The Life of Steve”. Fox got hold of copies of these shorts, and proposed to Seth MacFarlane to create a 15 minute short on a rather large budget of $50,000. These Larry shorts were what the Family Guy ideas were grown from, and what makes this amazing TV show today.
If you feel like watching some Family Guy, it is still aired and still in production on the TV. However below is a clip where you can see a sample of what it is like.
